10 Reasons You Should Exercise and Diet to Lose Weight

An article "Why exercise will not make you thin" by John Cloud, published in Time magazine in August, sparked a new debate about exercise and weight loss. His article examines whether a person can lose weight by exercise alone - and his conclusion is that you can not.

Without control of what you eat, it is almost impossible to lose weight simply by burning calories through exercise. However, in combination with a "diet" of some kind, exercise is undoubtedly a major factor in successful weight loss. Here are 10 reasons why you should include exercise as part of your weight loss program.

1. The exercise does burn calories - but probably not enough to make the weight loss that comes from reducing calorie intake from food. much exercise is needed to burn very few calories.

2. Exercise increases your metabolism, and muscle uses more energy to maintain even when you are asleep.

3. Exercise helps counter the "hunger" effect in your body that often causes a reduced calorie diet.

4. Exercise can make you susceptible to hunger and post-workout anxiety. This is especially true for longer workouts, more vigorous, and some experts suggest that the most common low-level activity may be more beneficial for weight loss.

5. To lose 1 pound of fat per week, you would have to reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories per day. To do this with exercise is simply much more difficult than we think - swimming laps in 1 hour, rowing fixed for 1 hour, or high-impact aerobics for one hour will burn 500 calories each .

6. That said, it is much easier to lose weight and dieting if exercise helps to burn some calories.

7. Exercise has many psychological benefits - feel better about yourself, it is ideal for the management of stress and is even found to relieve depression and anxiety.

8. The exercise has been found to help maintain long-term weight loss.

9. The general health benefits of exercise can not be ignored - if you try to lose weight or not, exercise helps to reduce our risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, back pain and osteoporosis, among others.

10. Your social life can improve too! Even if you're walking in the neighborhood, in the gym or local sports club, you meet new people and make new friends.

The article had a lot of armed men, many of whom seemed to miss the point. If you do not change your eating habits, it is extremely difficult to lose weight.

The amount of exercise you do is not possible. Combining a kind of healthy diet with exercise is still the best way to achieve a healthy lifestyle. The benefit of exercise is that lean, toned looks much better than soft - whatever their size.
